Playa de Almerimar is a beach located in the city of El Ejido, Andalusia, Spain. The beach is widely recognized for its wind and waves, making it a favorite spot among kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, fishing, and paragliding enthusiasts.
The beach encompasses a stretch of 5 kilometers of urban beaches and an additional area of untouched beaches within the protected area of Punta Entinas-Sabinar. The beaches are distinguished by their coarse, grayish sand that is appreciated for not sticking to the body. The Punta Entinas beaches possess finer sand and are frequented by naturists.
Playa de Almerimar is characterized by its soft sand, with some parts of the beach being stony. The beach is broad, providing ample space for visitors. The water at Playa de Almerimar is clear and clean, making it an ideal location for swimming and other water activities. There is also a designated section of the beach for nude sunbathing, which is known for its calm sea conditions and excellent sand quality.
Despite its attractive features, Playa de Almerimar is not typically crowded, especially in the evenings. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful beach experience, with the sun still up and the temperature warm around 8 pm.
The area offers a range of services and amenities, including sports facilities, a golf course, a marina, and a variety of bars and restaurants. The marina, which is the largest in AlmerĂa and the second largest in Andalusia, has 1,100 moorings and has led to the development of various amenities in the surrounding area. The Almerimar golf course, which has 18 holes and covers over 800,000 square meters, attracts tourists throughout the year due to favorable playing conditions and weather.
The majority of restaurants and bars are located around the marina, offering a wide variety of cuisine ranging from traditional local dishes to innovative and international dishes. For cocktails and nightlife, there are several options concentrated around the marina. The largest and most well-known nightclub in Almerimar is Regata, which has two floors and terraces with sea views and is popular during the summer months.
In addition to the beach area, there is a nearby natural area called Punta Entinas-Sabinar, which is a wetland refuge for a diverse range of wildlife, including flamingos. The beaches of Almerimar offer a clean and less crowded Mediterranean experience, with all the amenities expected from a top-quality destination.
