The beach encompasses a stretch of 5 kilometers of urban beaches and an additional area of untouched beaches within the protected area of Punta Entinas-Sabinar. The beaches are distinguished by their coarse, grayish sand that is appreciated for not sticking to the body. The Punta Entinas beaches possess finer sand and are frequented by naturists.
Playa de Almerimar is characterized by its soft sand, with some parts of the beach being stony. The beach is broad, providing ample space for visitors. The water at Playa de Almerimar is clear and clean, making it an ideal location for swimming and other water activities. There is also a designated section of the beach for nude sunbathing, which is known for its calm sea conditions and excellent sand quality.
