The northern part of the bay has yellowish sand with some rocks in the middle and is known for its alternative hippie flair. There is a famous and popular hippie bar in pirate style at the northernmost end. The bay has hardly any waves, making it ideal for kayaking and snorkeling. There is an extremely low tide once a day where you can walk up to one kilometre into the sea. Swimming is possible at low tide but more fun at high tide.
