Ao Yang Beach, sometimes referred to as Hat Ao Yang, is a small and peaceful beach located in the Laem Sing district, within the Chanthaburi province of Thailand. This tranquil beach is situated approximately 30 kilometers from the town and is accessible via Highway No.3 until reaching Km. 310, where one then turns right onto Highway No.3399. Despite its relative seclusion, it is possible to reach Ao Yang Beach either by self-driving or by hiring a driver, making it a quiet side trip from the bustling city of Bangkok.
The beach itself is known for its natural beauty and lends itself to a cool, shady atmosphere, making it an ideal location for visitors seeking relaxation. Ao Yang Beach is particularly noted for its beautiful sunsets and is considered a scenic spot best visited in the evening. The beach is surrounded by rocky areas and shallow water coral reefs that cover an area of 14 square kilometers, which can be explored using glass-bottomed boats. However, these rocky areas may not be suitable for swimming.
Ao Yang Beach is family-oriented and is surrounded by a few hotels and restaurants, providing amenities for visitors. There are plenty of parking spaces available at the beach, with tree-shaded areas offering respite from the sun. The beach is open all day and there is no entry fee required for access.
One of the main concerns at Ao Yang Beach is the issue of garbage, particularly plastic waste. While efforts are made by locals to maintain the cleanliness of the beach, the level of cleanliness can vary. Some visitors have reported the beach to be fairly clean, while others have noted it to be messy due to private developments and abandoned buildings. Despite this, Ao Yang Beach continues to maintain a relaxing atmosphere for its visitors.
