Apollon Plajı is a serene and largely undiscovered beach located in the Ayvacık Gülpınar region of Çanakkale, Turkey. Known for its untouched natural beauty, the beach offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle, attracting mainly locals who own summer houses in the vicinity.
The beach is characterized by a rocky structure interspersed with a small and narrow sandy area. Large pebbles cover much of the beach, and the sea itself is covered with seaweed. Despite these rocky conditions, the beach is still a popular spot for swimming, diving, and fishing. The water is cold and the seabed sandy, becoming deeper about 10 meters from the shoreline, making it a safe option for swimmers. In addition to water activities, the surrounding area also offers quiet walking trails suitable for trekking, sightseeing, and bike rides.
Apollon Plajı is accessible by private car via the Ayvacık Gülpınar Road. However, due to the road's rough condition, caution is advised, particularly for low vehicles. On arrival, there are suitable routes for parking. The beach is also reachable by turning towards the Apollo houses before arriving at Aklimana on Babakale Road.
Despite its charm, the beach is not affiliated with any facilities and lacks amenities such as showers and toilets. As such, visitors planning to camp in the Apollon Plajı Kamp Alanı, a camping area adjacent to the beach, are advised to come prepared with durable food and other essentials. Camping is free in this area, but visitors may also opt to use nearby camping facilities for a fee.
The lack of facilities and its undiscovered status contribute to a peaceful and less crowded atmosphere at Apollon Plajı. Visitors are urged to respect the natural environment by disposing of their garbage in the provided bins near the parking area.
