Arza Beach, tucked away on the Lustica Peninsula in MiriŔta, is a distinctive and serene location that harmoniously combines natural splendor and historical intrigue. The remnants of the ancient Arza fortress envelop the beach, offering visitors a peek into the region's rich past. The beach's environs are marked by breathtaking views of the Boko-Kotor Bay and the Adriatic Sea, characterized by rugged cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and imposing mountains, forming a picturesque setting for guests.
Apart from being a site of historical interest, Arza Beach is also a sanctuary for relaxation and leisure. Its tranquil ambiance and pristine waters make it perfect for activities like swimming and sunbathing. The beach is also a gateway to nearby attractions, including Lustica Bay, known for its quaint villages and olive groves, and the town of Kotor, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture. The beach stands out for its unique gravel texture and its secluded location, and the Lustica Peninsula, where it is located, is known for producing high-quality olive oil.
The journey to Arza Beach, which is approximately two hours from Herceg Novi, is marked by scenic beauty. However, the last kilometer of the road leading to the beach is unpaved and extremely narrow, which may pose difficulties for vehicles. The beach is noted for its unspoiled natural features and is often described as a peaceful retreat, far from the hustle and bustle of busier beaches.
The beach itself is spacious and typically not crowded, affording visitors plenty of room. Arza Beach is also a favoured spot for camping, offering shaded areas for vehicle parking. However, the entry into the sea can be complex due to the presence of sea urchins, and the beach lacks accessible toilet facilities. Parking can also be chaotic at times.
Arza Beach carries a historical significance as well. During NATO's intervention in 1999, the area around the beach and fortress was hit by 300 depleted uranium missiles. While most of this waste was collected and buried in an old bunker near the Arza fortress, the safety of staying in the vicinity remains a subject of discussion. Despite this, the beach retains its allure as a captivating destination throughout the year, particularly during the summer months.
