Beylik Koyu

Beylik Koyu, also known as Belek Bay, is a picturesque beach located on the tranquil island of Bozcaada in the Aegean Sea, Turkey. This hidden cove is renowned for its clear, pure water and sandy terrain, making it an ideal spot for beach activities such as snorkeling and diving. The beach is also safe for children, thanks to the calm waters protected from wind and waves by the cliff-like rocks on one side.

One of the unique features of Beylik Koyu is an abandoned cargo ship, which ran aground in 2015. The ship still remains at the beach, and visitors can enjoy swinging on large swings made from ropes hanging from the ship. However, the smell of onions from the ship may occasionally be detected, as it was carrying onions when it ran aground.

Despite its natural beauty, Beylik Koyu is relatively undeveloped in terms of facilities. There are no social amenities available, such as showers, restrooms, sunbeds, or umbrellas. Visitors are therefore advised to come prepared with necessary equipment, including sun protection, to make the most of their visit.

Beylik Koyu can be reached by a new road built after the collapse of the old one. The road is located on the right side when heading towards the center from Bozcaada Ayazma Beach in the direction of the monastery. After traveling about 1 km on this asphalt road, a 300-meter dirt road on the right leads to this untouched cove. The beach is also accessible by boat, offering a unique and secluded beach experience.

Discover the perfect place to stay near Beylik Koyu and enjoy the serene beauty of this tranquil island retreat.

Due to its hidden location and lack of facilities, Beylik Koyu is not typically crowded, making it a peaceful retreat for those seeking tranquillity away from the bustle of more popular beaches. However, visitors are advised to prepare adequately for their visit, as the beach's remote location and lack of amenities may not suit everyone.

Visitor Reviews

Visitor reviews highlight the beauty of the beach and its suitability for activities like snorkeling and diving, with many appreciating the pleasant underwater environment and safety for children. The beach's unique location, protected by cliff-like rocks, ensures calm sea conditions, making it a favorite among visitors. However, some visitors complain about the lack of social facilities such as showers and toilets, and the necessity of bringing personal equipment like umbrellas for shade.
