Box Beach

Box Beach is a secluded, scenic beach known for its sublime views and crystal clear waters, making it a perfect spot for photography. The beach is tucked away and is characterized by its unique box shape, squared off by rock formations at either end. The sandy beach is accompanied by a long sandy path leading right to the beach from the car park. The beach is part of a National Park and is accessible via an easy walk. Despite its seclusion, the beach can get crowded, especially during weekends, so it is recommended to arrive early to secure a parking spot. The parking area, while decent, closes at 5pm. Box Beach is not patrolled and the water gets deep very quickly with a shore break. The waves can be rough, making it suitable for experienced swimmers, surfers, and body boarders. It is advised not to swim alone due to the risk of being pulled out to the ocean. The interaction between the backwash off the cliffs at the northern end and the incoming swell can create interesting peaks, adding to the beach's natural charm. Despite its beauty, the beach offers no shade and fishing may not yield much success. Visitors are advised to keep a close eye on children swimming due to the quick depth change and strong currents.
