Büyükçakıl Plajı

Büyükçakıl Plajı, also known as Kaş Büyük Çakıl, is a pebble beach located in the vicinity of the city center of Kaş, in Antalya, Turkey. It is the nearest beach to the city center following Küçük Çakıl. It is known for its challenging terrain, making it an exciting spot for adventurous beach-goers.

The beach is typically not overcrowded, particularly outside of the peak tourist season. It is a favorite among locals and is renowned for its peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal location for solitude and meditation. Despite its close proximity to the city, the beach maintains its natural appeal. The beach is also home to a variety of wildlife, including geese, dogs, and cats, adding to its natural beauty.

The sea at Büyükçakıl Plajı is somewhat cool due to the mixing of spring water flowing from the surrounding mountains, resulting in water temperature variations, with colder, less salty water on the upper layers. This beach is also one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset, with the mountains serving as a picturesque backdrop. In the evenings, some establishments set up their tables right next to the sea, on the pebbles, creating a magical atmosphere where visitors can enjoy a meal while watching the sunset.

Büyükçakıl Plajı is equipped with several amenities to ensure a comfortable visit. There are six beachside restaurants providing food and beverage service to the beach umbrellas and sun loungers. These umbrellas and sun loungers can be used at no separate cost, and there are no spending limits, although this may change in future seasons. Additional facilities include showers and changing cabins.

Reaching Büyükçakıl Plajı is straightforward. Visitors can either walk for approximately 20 minutes from the city center or take city minibuses that depart every hour. Taxis are also an available means of transportation.
