Playa Caleta del Congrio is a serene and small beach located in the municipality of Yaiza. The beach is part of the protected natural area known as Espacio Natural Protegido / ZEPA and is known for its tranquility. With a length of 280 meters and a width of 20 meters, it is surrounded by mountains and offers a calm atmosphere.
The beach is characterized by its white, sandy composition and clear, calm waters. It has no rocks or seaweed, making it an ideal spot for swimming. The water depth remains shallow even quite a distance from the shore. The beach faces southeast, allowing for sun exposure throughout the day.
Despite its natural beauty, Playa Caleta del Congrio does not offer any amenities such as bars, restrooms, or cafes. Visitors are advised to bring their own food and water. Moreover, it is a popular spot for stargazing due to its calm and quiet environment.
Playa Caleta del Congrio welcomes both nudists and non-nudists alike and is known to be gay-friendly. During the high season, the beach tends to be quite occupied, with more than 70% of the beach being occupied.
The beach is accessible by following the sign for Playa Caleta del Congrio after entering the Papagayo beaches area. There is a parking area available, previously used for caravan campers. From the parking area, it is a 10-minute walk along a path over some hills to reach the beach.
