Chalkos

Chalkos is a beach located in Kythira, Greece. It is renowned for its clear, clean water and pebbly terrain, with the pebbles being described as ashy in color. The beach is partly organized, offering amenities such as beach chairs, umbrellas, and a cantina serving coffee, juices, and snacks. However, it is noted that the umbrellas are quite low, which may pose a minor inconvenience. Getting to Chalkos Beach involves traversing a gravel road, which is steep and bumpy. The last 400 meters of the road require very low speed, but a 4x4 vehicle is not necessary. Despite the challenging road conditions, visitors are encouraged not to be deterred from visiting this beautiful beach. Chalkos Beach can get crowded, especially in August. Therefore, it is recommended to arrive as early as 09:30 to secure sunbeds. The cost for an umbrella and sunbeds is 10 Euros. Despite the potential for crowds, the beach maintains its cleanliness and is considered one of the best beaches in Kythira.
