Plage du Corton, also known as Anse de Corton, is a small and scenic cove located in Cassis, a town in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in France. It offers a serene and picturesque setting with a view of Cap Canaille, the highest sea cliff in France. The beach is characterized by its narrow width, extending only about two meters from the water's edge in most areas, and is framed by cliffs that add to its visual appeal. Despite its relatively small size, the beach is popular among visitors for its natural beauty and calm atmosphere. One of the defining features of Plage du Corton is its large pebbles, which may affect the comfort levels of some visitors. However, a small stone jetty with steps is present on the beach, allowing visitors to bypass the pebbles and enter the water directly. The beach's clear waters are known to be ideal for snorkeling, with divers often reporting sightings of diverse marine life. Plage du Corton features a small cafe on the beach where visitors can rent loungers and kayaks, enhancing their beach experience. There is also a toilet facility conveniently located in the nearby parking lot. Accessibility to the beach is relatively easy, with a parking lot nearby where visitors can park their cars and walk directly onto the beach. Visitors can reach the beach by taking the direction of Cap Canaille from the center of Cassis, or they can opt to take the Lombards trail from the Grande Mer beach, which is next to the port. Despite its popularity, Plage du Corton is less crowded compared to other beaches, maintaining a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. It is an ideal spot for tranquil beach outings and viewing moon rises. However, it is important to note that access to the beach may be regulated during the summer season.
