Plage des Flots Bleus is a scenic beach situated in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Alpes-Maritimes, in the region of PACA. The beach extends from the mouth of the Var river, near the Cap 3000 shopping center, to the port of St-Laurent-du-Var. It is characterized by a unique blend of sand and pebble terrain. Historically, the beach was predominantly pebbled, but over time, sand has gradually dominated some areas. Particularly, a sandy area can be found to the left of the beach, approximately 200 meters after the lifeguard station, during the summer season.
The beach is divided into three main sections. The eastern part, near Cap 3000 and closest to Nice, is equipped with a nautical center and a beach volleyball court. The central part, along the promenade Landsberg am Lech, is quieter and primarily residential, featuring mostly pebbled terrain with a sandy area on the left side. The western part, along the Promenade des Flots Bleus, is the most vibrant area. It is a supervised beach during the season and is labeled as Handiplage, making it accessible to people with disabilities. This area near the port is occupied by private beaches and a small free beach with a mix of sand and pebbles. Notably, this area is completely pedestrianized, making it family-friendly.
Plage des Flots Bleus is not only known for its captivating natural beauty, including picturesque palm trees and tame swans that are a rare sight on most coasts, but also for its amenities. It offers showers for beachgoers and features a carousel nearby, making it an ideal spot for family outings.
Despite its many attractions, Plage des Flots Bleus tends not to be overcrowded, providing a serene beach experience. Parking is available, but it is a paid facility. The beach can be accessed by a one-way road on the right before the entrance of Cap 3000. However, visitors should be aware that swimming is often prohibited due to pollution. Kitesurfing is permitted, except from April 15th to October 15th within 300 meters of the beach.
