Plage Dourveil is a sandy beach located in the FinistÚre region of Névez, in southern Brittany, a short distance from the town of Concarneau. The beach is situated in the lower part of the Raguénez village, near the village of Kercanic, on the coastal route leading to the Trévignon point.
The beach extends for more than 300 meters and is encircled by rocks. Despite its size, it is not very deep, making it a popular destination for families. The beach offers a range of activities including surfing, paddleboarding, longboarding, diving, sunbathing, and fishing, particularly during low tide. A surf and paddle school is also located at the beach.
The crystal-clear water at Plage Dourveil provides a refreshing environment for swimmers, although caution is advised due to the absence of lifeguards. On clear days, visitors can enjoy a view of the Glénan Islands from the beach.
Access to Plage Dourveil is straightforward. Visitors can reach it by traversing the village of Kercanic on foot, by bike, or by car, or by taking the coastal road from the town of Trégunc and the Trévignon point. There is a parking lot available near the beach, as well as further along the coastal road.
Despite its popularity, especially during the summer season, the beach is never overly crowded, even during the summer months. It retains a serene and tranquil atmosphere, providing a perfect escape from daily life. The beach is also known for its cleanliness, adding to its appeal as a day-out location.
Plage Dourveil is conveniently located for exploring the neighboring towns of Trégunc and Névez, known for their sandy beaches, thatched-roof villages, and the banks of the Aven River. From the beach, visitors can also easily reach the Raguénez slipway, the Kercanic thatched-roof village, the coastal path (GR 34) that offers scenic walks along the ocean, and the Névezienne cycling route.
