Playa El Arenal is a semi-urban beach situated in the town of San Javier, in the region of Murcia. Its location in the hamlet of La Manga del Mar Menor makes it an easily accessible destination for tourists. The beach is known for its golden sands that stretch almost two kilometers in length and are a little more than 15 meters wide. The sand is fine and the surface of the beach is smooth.
The beach faces east, offering views of the Mediterranean Sea. It is characterized by calm and clear waters that are warm and have medium waves. The beach also features sandbanks, allowing visitors to wade for many meters without getting covered. These characteristics make Playa El Arenal a suitable location for families.
Despite the beach's popularity and the influx of people around noon, especially in August, it is still possible for visitors to find comfort. The beach lacks showers or footbaths, but it compensates for this with the availability of food and beverage services. It is also located in close proximity to various services and supermarkets.
Vehicle access to Playa El Arenal is limited. Most of the streets adjacent to the beach are closed to vehicles, with the exception of residents. The vicinity of Gran Vía is the only area where vehicle access is permitted. In contrast, pedestrian access is very good. The beach can be reached by urban bus, with the Alsa line L-15 dropping passengers off at the El Pedruchillo stop, which is only a two-minute walk from the beach.
The beach is under the surveillance of lifeguards, ensuring the safety of its visitors. Information about Playa El Arenal is sourced from official organizations like the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
