El Cocal Beach

El Cocal Beach is a hidden gem located in Puerto Rico. It is characterized by its beautiful blue waters, yellow sand, and rocky cliffs. The beach is known for its steep and narrow access road, which may be one of the steepest roads you may have ever driven on. Despite this, the journey is well worth it as the beach offers a virtually private experience due to its low crowd levels. The beach is clean with actual sand and no seaweed, making it a great spot for wading and walking along the shore. However, due to strong waves and undertow, swimming is generally not recommended. There is a small bay on the north side which is suitable for children and also a good spot for snorkeling, as the surrounding rocks break the waves down. A unique feature of El Cocal Beach is the presence of sea turtle nests, adding to its natural charm. Despite being a public beach, it has the feel of a private beach, uninterrupted by big crowds, noise, or high traffic. The locals are known to be friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall relaxing atmosphere of the beach.
