Plage de Fontsainte

Plage de Fontsainte is a picturesque pebble beach located in the bay of Vierge in La Ciotat, near St-Jean Avenue and the corniche Arène Cros. Despite its narrowness, it is known for its clean, turquoise water and is a popular destination for both tourists and locals, especially when the sea is calm. Over the past three decades, Plage de Fontsainte has experienced significant erosion. Despite this, the beach retains enough sand for visitors to comfortably lie down. However, it's worth noting that on windy days, the sand can disappear, revealing the rocky surface underneath. The beach is generally very clean, but there have been some concerns regarding littering. It tends to get busier around 4 p.m., but it is not usually overly crowded, particularly towards the end of the afternoon. Parking is available near the beach, making it convenient for visitors who are driving. Despite the beach's narrowness, accessing it is possible, although it may be somewhat challenging. Please note that the beach is not supervised, so visitors should exercise caution when swimming or engaging in other water activities. Despite its challenges, Plage de Fontsainte retains a certain charm that continues to attract visitors year after year.
