The village of Georgioupolis is conveniently accessible as it is located along the main road connecting Chania to Rethymnon and Heraklion. An hourly bus service in both directions also enhances its accessibility.
While Georgioupoli Beach offers a long sandy coastline with facilities and easy access, caution is advised when swimming, especially for children, due to the presence of strong currents. A smaller beach to the East of the river could be a safer option for children as the water is shallower and devoid of currents.
