Plage du Grand Large is a tranquil and spacious beach located in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, south of the city center. This beach is situated near the Côte Vermeille parking lot, providing visitors with convenient parking options. It can be accessed directly via Avenue de la Côte Vermeille. The natural characteristics of Plage du Grand Large include a sandy shoreline and clear waters. It is set in a large bay and is known for its shallow waters. However, visitors should be mindful as the drop into the water can be steep. Despite its size, the beach is rarely crowded, offering visitors a peaceful retreat. The beach is equipped with several amenities to ensure a comfortable visit for everyone. It is the only beach in the area with the Handiplage label, signifying its facilities for people with reduced mobility. These include a wheelchair-accessible pathway and a tiralo, a type of beach wheelchair for water access. During the summer season, a lifeguard station (number 5) is operational, equipped with a defibrillator and amenities such as showers and changing rooms. However, it's important to note that the beach is not watched outside of this season. Safety flags are present for visitor awareness. In addition to the natural beauty of the beach and the view of the Pyrenees, there are several facilities for recreation and relaxation. These include private areas for renting beach chairs, restaurants, and a playground for children next to a mini-golf area. However, swimming is not permitted in this area as it is reserved for windsurfing.
