Grande Plage

Grande Plage is a popular beach located in the city center of La Ciotat, in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, France. It is situated between the esplanade Henri Langlois and the port of Saint-Jean, offering a beautiful view of the Ile Verte and the bec de l'Aigle.

The natural features of the beach include lovely sandy shores and a gentle drop to deeper waters. These characteristics make it an ideal location for ball sports and family outings. Outside of the summer season, the beach's wind and weather conditions also make it a popular spot for water sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, and paragliding. However, the water at Grande Plage can sometimes be unusually salty.

The majority of the beach is occupied by private beaches and restaurants, with public spaces only available at the two ends. Despite this, the beach maintains a pleasant atmosphere, even during peak times. It is equipped with showers for the convenience of its visitors, and there are numerous food options available in the vicinity.

Parking around the beach can be a challenge, especially during the high season. However, there is a parking lot near the port of Saint-Jean. Despite the availability of parking, the beachfront is relatively small, which can contribute to the feeling of overcrowding. The beach can get quite crowded, particularly during August, so visitors are advised to arrive early to secure a good spot.
