Grosser Strand

Grosser Strand is a tranquil sandy beach located in the former fishing village of Mönchgut, at the northern start of the large Baltic Sea beach. The beach is renowned for its natural beauty and charm, with gentle hills and cliffs surrounding the area. It features some of the finest and whitest sand in the Baltic Sea, and a gradual slope free of groynes and rocks, creating an ideal bathing environment. The beach offers a diverse range of areas set aside for different activities. Some sections of the beach are designated for dogs, allowing them to roam freely off-leash, while others are reserved for FKK (nudist) activities. As one moves from Göhren towards Klein Zicker, the beach becomes increasingly peaceful, with nature right next to the cycle path and holiday accommodations, offering stunning views over the Baltic Sea. In terms of amenities, Grosser Strand offers cozy restaurants and a modern camping site for visitors. The beach is easily accessible by bus, with free rides available for those holding a spa card. Visitors are encouraged to explore the area by bus, bike, or on foot, leaving their cars behind. Despite its peaceful setting, Grosser Strand attracts a significant number of visitors during the summer months.
