Plage du Guen - Lanruen, commonly referred to as Plage du Guen, is a picturesque beach situated in the town of Erquy, within the Côtes-d'Armor department in Bretagne, France. Recognized for its immense natural beauty, the beach is frequently described as one of the most stunning beaches in Bretagne.
The beach is characterized by its semi-wild nature, encapsulated by dense vegetation and dunes that envelop the area. The western part of the beach is notably more wild, while the central part presents a slight urban touch due to the vicinity of the Lanruen estate. The beach's fine and white sand, coupled with the stunning views of the surrounding heathland and woods, further enhance its allure.
The north-facing position of Plage du Guen offers it a unique advantage of being shielded from the southerly winds, making it an ideal spot for leisurely walks and swimming. The beach is also a popular spot for fishing during low tide. Additionally, it is home to a myriad of sea creatures visible amongst the rocks while swimming, especially for those equipped with swimming glasses, adding to the beach's natural charm.
Despite its lack of specific facilities, Plage du Guen encourages visitors to bring their own equipment to enjoy the beach experience. Accessibility to the beach is made convenient with a pedestrian trail leading west to Cap d'Erquy and east to the port of Hôpitaux and the Sables d'Or les Pins station.
Vehicle access to the beach is facilitated by two parking options. One parking lot is situated in the central part near Lanruen, while the other is a free parking lot located about a five-minute distance from the beach. Despite the beach's captivating beauty and amenities, it is not typically crowded, even during peak vacation times such as mid-August, making it a perfect destination for those seeking a tranquil and serene beach experience.
