Plazhi i Gjeneralit is a serene beach located near the city of Kavaja in Albania. The beach derived its name from an Italian General who, during World War II, was so captivated by the bay that he decided to spend his family holiday there. The beach is approximately 22 km from Durrës, which is accessible from Tirana. Upon reaching Kavaja, visitors should follow the sign directing them to turn right to reach Plazhi i Gjeneralit. The final 5 kilometers of the road to the beach is unpaved, requiring cautious and slow driving. The beach is characterized by a mix of pebble stones and sand, along with crystal-clear sea waters. However, the sea can sometimes become unpleasant, particularly during windy conditions, which may deter swimming. Despite this, the beach's breathtaking scenery, cleanliness, and tranquil atmosphere make it an ideal spot for relaxation, sunbathing, and enjoying a memorable sunset. Amenities at Plazhi i Gjeneralit include sun beds and umbrellas, available for use at no cost. There is also a bar situated above the water and a nearby restaurant. For those wishing to stay overnight, there are bungalows and a camping area close to the beach. A mini market near the beach provides visitors with the opportunity to purchase food and drinks. Parking at Plazhi i Gjeneralit is available and free of charge. Despite its desirable location, the beach typically avoids overcrowding, even on weekends, providing visitors with a peaceful beach experience. However, it can become crowded during weekends, so it is advised to plan visits accordingly.
