Kendalls Beach is a serene sandy cove located in Kiama, renowned for its picturesque setting and stunning views of the local lighthouse. The beach is popular among both locals and visitors for its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere, offering a less crowded beach experience. It is known for its clean white sand and sometimes rough waves, making it a preferred spot for surfing and fishing enthusiasts.
The beach also offers a range of amenities for visitors. During the summer school holidays, it is patrolled for the safety of swimmers. This is made possible through the partnership of Kiama Council with Surf Lifesaving NSW, who have installed new Emergency Relay Beacons (ERBs) along the beach. These ERBs can be activated during emergencies, alerting the nearest lifesaver or lifeguard. Additionally, Kendalls Beach features public toilets located in the nearby holiday park, and takeaways for refreshments are available at the north end of the beach.
Kendalls Beach is also a popular spot for families. There are picnic facilities and a small playground just off the sand, as well as cabins located right on the beach. A grassy area near the beach serves as an ideal location for picnics or simply relaxing in the sun.
Parking facilities are available off O'Keefe Place for those visiting by car. For those who prefer to walk, the beach can be reached by walking up Chapman Street, turning left and then right after two houses through a driveway leading to the shops. From there, the beach is just a short walk away.
In addition to being a popular spot for leisure activities, Kendalls Beach also serves as a picturesque backdrop for wedding ceremonies. Despite its somewhat hidden location, Kendalls Beach is well worth the visit for its natural beauty, tranquility, and the range of amenities it offers.
