Plage de Ker Emma

Plage de Ker Emma, also known as Les dunes de Kéremma or Keremma, is a tranquil beach located in the commune of Tréflez in the Nord Finistère region of Bretagne, France, by the English Channel. The beach is situated at the western end of the Ker Emma point, providing a serene environment that is ideal for relaxation. The beach is characterized by its extensive dunes that stretch for several kilometers, creating a preserved and peaceful environment. These dunes not only contribute to the beach's natural beauty, but also offer protection from the wind. A section of the beach closer to Goulven is designated for naturists, and while nudity is allowed in this area, it is not exclusively a nudist beach as clothing is worn on the maritime side. Visitors are encouraged to respect the dune ecosystem and the wildlife that inhabits it, particularly the birds that nest or feed there, by staying on the sand and not venturing into the dunes. Swimming at Plage de Ker Emma is dependent on the tide, as the sea recedes several kilometers at low tide, making it impossible to swim. Despite this, the beach offers a remote and untouched landscape that visitors can enjoy. The beach is easily accessible by road. From Brest, one can take the D788 towards Lesneven, continue on the D125 towards Plouider and Goulven on the D10, following the coastline. From Plouescat, one can pass the village of Ker Emma on the D10. The beach can also be accessed via the Pen ar C'hleuz trail. Parking is available for visitors, making it convenient for those who drive to the beach. Additionally, a walkway above the beach provides a scenic route for those who prefer to walk. Visitors can also enjoy evening walks along the beach, although they should be aware of the presence of sand fleas. The beach is a popular spot for dog walkers, but dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, a rule that applies to all areas of the beach, including the dunes, and is enforced year-round. Despite these amenities, the beach is not crowded, allowing visitors to fully enjoy its tranquility and natural beauty.
