Plage de Kerler

Plage de Kerler is a serene and tranquil beach, located in Fouesnant, in the FinistĂšre department of Brittany, France. It is situated approximately 15 kilometers south of Quimper, the capital of the department. The beach is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, dunes, and the Mer Blanche, and offers a picturesque view of the town of BĂ©nodet in the distance. The beach is characterized by its long stretch of fine sandy shoreline, bordered by dunes and dense vegetation. The beach may also have some seaweed, adding to its wild charm. The beach is known for its cleanliness and is particularly noted for its high waves and breezy conditions. The water gradually slopes, making it suitable for swimming. However, it is important to note that the water at Plage de Kerler has a greenish hue due to the high nitrate levels in the rivers and coastal waters of Brittany, caused by local farming practices. Plage de Kerler is a family-friendly beach and is not overly crowded. The beach is supervised and has a lifeguard station from July 1st to August 31st, between 1 pm and 7 pm. There are also public toilets nearby for visitors' convenience. The beach is divided into two sections, one for nudists and the other for those who prefer to remain clothed. Adjacent to the lifeguard station, there is an official naturist area that extends for 1 kilometer. This section is clearly marked with signs and spans about 1500 meters, ensuring privacy even during the peak summer season. The naturist area is open from April 1st to October 31st, from 10 am until sunset. Access to Plage de Kerler is straightforward. From BĂ©nodet, one can take the D44 road towards Fouesnant. At the Pont Henvez roundabout, one should turn right onto the D134 road, following the sign for Kerler. After 700 meters, take the right onto Hent Kerler street, where there is a sign indicating the beach. Following this road for 1.7 kilometers will lead to the parking area. There is parking available near the beach, although it is considered undersized for the size of the beach. Overall, Plage de Kerler offers a beautiful natural setting for visitors to enjoy the beach and surrounding marshland. It is an ideal location for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.
