Ketendere Sahili

Ketendere Sahili, often referred to as Mudanya, is situated in Esence, Bursa, Turkey. This ancient port, named after the Keten Creek that flows into it, offers a glimpse into historical maritime practices. The creek was a crucial component in ancient times as it helped in reducing the salt water level in the harbor and safeguarded wooden ships from wood maggots, known as Teredo Navalis, which could inflict significant damage.

The beach is part of a hiking trail called Esence (Eşkel) - Ketendere-Kapanca Antik Liman-Göktepe-Trilye (Zeytinbağı). This trail features several points of interest, including a starting point, several junctions, a view of the village of Keyendere, and a point named Trilye 2 Km (Su deposu).

Ketendere Sahili is a small and serene beach, known for its windy conditions and wavy sea. Its underwater landscape is primarily rocky, making it a favorite spot for fishing enthusiasts. However, the rocky conditions can pose difficulties and potential dangers for swimmers, with mussels often causing minor cuts. Despite the lack of facilities like toilets or showers and the presence of garbage and algae, the beach maintains its tranquility, even during weekends.

One of the unique characteristics of Ketendere Sahili is its positioning 3 meters below the road. This allows visitors to drive up close and enjoy the sea view. However, due to the rocky terrain, there are only certain areas where it is safe to enter the water. The beach does not offer parking facilities, and visitors must be careful while driving due to the close proximity to the sea.
