The beach can be reached by a ten-minute drive from Byron Bay to the Broken Head Nature Reserve, followed by a 30-minute return walk along a pathway, which can be steep in places. The journey to the beach is a memorable one, with a scenic route through the jungle and a rainforest walk that leads to and from the car park. However, the pathway can be rocky and jagged, and access can sometimes be affected by tides, so wearing sneakers is recommended for safety.
The Kings Beach car park is accessible via Seven Mile Road, a narrow dirt road. Additional overflow parking is available further south next to an access gate on the western side of the road. However, during peak times, visitors are advised to avoid the red 'no standing zone' signed areas to prevent parking fines.
Kings Beach is known for its serene environment and spectacular views, particularly during sunset. Its waves are suitable for body surfing, though visitors should be aware of rip tides and jellyfish. The beach is a popular destination for day trips and public holidays, offering plenty of shaded areas to relax and gentle waves for swimming. The beach also attracts occasional surfers.
