Plage de la Belle Etoile, situated in Concarneau, a city in the FinistĂšre department of Bretagne, France, is a picturesque beach located on the Cabellou peninsula. The beach, stretching over a length of 500 meters, is known for its fine sandy texture and small dunes. It is also characterized by the presence of several rocks on its sides, providing an ideal spot for fishing.
The central portion of the beach is the most frequented, especially during the high season, owing to the adjacent camping site. Despite its popularity, the beach retains a calm, serene atmosphere, amplified by the beautiful sunsets that can be observed over the Concarneau bay.
To add to the visitor's convenience, there are two restaurants to the west of the beach, and a parking area located nearby. The beach can be easily accessed by following the signs for Cabellou-Plages from the entrance of Concarneau.
A unique aspect of Plage de la Belle Etoile is its ongoing restoration work, aimed at preserving the beach's natural environment and biodiversity. As part of this initiative, three test zones within the dune area have been designated by the local government. The first zone has been left untouched to allow for natural vegetation growth, while the other two zones are undergoing different treatments to stimulate the growth of dormant seeds and revitalize the soil.
In order to limit human impact on the beach's habitat, designated pathways for visitors have been proposed. The city's Department of Green Spaces is in charge of this restoration project and will be presenting a comprehensive plan based on the results of these tests.
Despite the proximity of a road and a mooring area, Plage de la Belle Etoile offers a preserved environment, enhancing the visitor's experience. Amenities at the beach include toilets and a substantial car parking area, facilitating easy access for visitors. However, it's important to note that while the beach's natural beauty and tranquil ambiance make it an ideal location for picnics or snack breaks, it may not be best suited for swimming or bathing.
