Plage de la Manchette is a scenic beach located in the quaint town of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, France. Nestled in a bay, this beach is known for its tranquility and serene environment that offers visitors a peaceful retreat.
The natural characteristics of Plage de la Manchette are quite unique. It features a flat landscape with fine sand, surrounded by rocky formations. These rocks not only add to the visual appeal of the beach but also provide a fun opportunity for children to climb and explore the puddles for marine life. The beach is also known for the significant recession of the sea at low tide, which allows visitors to walk in the bay and discover water reserves in certain places that are perfect for soaking feet and for children to play. Furthermore, the beach offers a beautiful view of the Lancieux peninsula, further enhancing the overall experience of the beachgoers.
Visitors to the beach can enjoy a range of amenities. Plage de la Manchette is adjacent to a large municipal campsite, which is open from April 1st to September 30th and provides convenience for visitors. The campsite's reception is open from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in April, May, June, and September. In July and August, the reception is open from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Additionally, a changing cabin is available at the entrance of the beach for the convenience of the visitors.
As for accessibility, Plage de la Manchette is easily reachable via the D26 road, then turning onto Boulevard du Rougeret and finally onto Rue de la Manchette. There is a small parking area near the beach that can accommodate around fifteen vehicles, making it convenient for visitors who are driving. The beach is also accessible for people with reduced mobility, with no steps required to reach the beach and a mat placed at the entrance.
Despite its many attractions, Plage de la Manchette is known for its uncrowded atmosphere, particularly in June, offering a relaxed beach experience. However, visitors should note that there may be seaweed at times on the beach. Nevertheless, with its calm air and water temperatures, this beach is a pleasant spot for various beach activities such as sandcastle building.
