Plage de la Marende

Plage de la Marende is a picturesque beach located in the resort town of Argelès-sur-Mer, within the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. The beach, known for its cleanliness and wide expanse, extends to St-Cyprien Plage and borders the Mas Larrieu nature reserve. The beach is divided into two distinct sections, each with its own characteristics and regulations. The southern part of the beach, which is similar to the city center beaches, is accessible via the parking lot on Boulevard de la Mer. This area is equipped with a lifeguard station and features several beachside lounges that serve food. However, dogs are not permitted in this section of the beach. The northern part of the beach, which can be accessed via the parking lot on Route du Littoral, is wilder and features mini-dunes that add to its charm. Despite being a bit further away and requiring some walking to reach, this part of the beach allows dogs, provided they are kept on a leash. Plage de la Marende offers a dramatic view of the Pyrénées plunging into the sea, making it a popular spot for swimming and wind-powered water sports. Despite its natural beauty and various amenities, the beach is not overly crowded, offering a peaceful spot for relaxation. Visitors are, however, advised to bring a jacket as it can get quite windy. A minor drawback of the beach is its stony nature, but this does not detract from its overall appeal.
