Playa Lanza Del Norte is a secluded beach situated in the province of Samaná, on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. It is located approximately 18 kilometers east of the resort town of Las Terrenas and 2 kilometers away from the nearest town of El Limón.
The beach is tucked away in a small, cozy bay, protected by rocky capes on either side and surrounded by giant coconut trees. The coast is covered with fine white sand, and the sea is typically calm and transparent, displaying a beautiful turquoise color. Despite its isolated setting, the beach is known for its natural beauty and tranquility, offering a sense of privacy to its visitors.
Reaching the beach can be quite challenging due to its remote location. The beach is accessible via an unpaved, potholed road, and it is recommended to ask for directions several times as the beach is somewhat hidden. After navigating sandy roads for approximately 5 kilometers, visitors will need to undertake a 10-minute walk to reach the beach.
While the beach is remote and not regularly maintained, there are several amenities available for visitors. These include pavilions where refreshments can be enjoyed, and facilities for renting umbrellas and sun loungers. There are also bathrooms and freshwater taps available. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy fresh local food and drinks, which are served right on the beach. However, visitors should be aware that there are no buildings, services, shops, or guards, so they are largely on their own when visiting this beach.
The water at Playa Lanza del Norte can sometimes be rough, with waves occasionally reaching over 2 meters in height. However, a small cove nearby offers more tranquil waters. One of the unique features of the beach is the natural shade provided by the palm trees, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.
The best time to visit Playa Lanza Del Norte is during the winter months, from November to March, when the weather is dry and the air temperature is a comfortable 24-30 degrees Celsius. During the summer months, the Dominican Republic is often subject to tropical rains and typhoons. Despite its isolation and the challenges in accessing it, Playa Lanza Del Norte offers a peaceful and enjoyable beach experience in a stunning natural setting.
