Located south of Singapore's mainland is Lazarus Island, one among many islands known as the Southern Islands that belong to Singapore. In present times, the island offers serene lagoons and serves as an ideal holiday destination; however, it remains associated with a troubled past as it was formerly used as a prison. Confined in inadequate sheds, prisoners attempted escape from the island. Visitors to Lazarus Island ought to remain vigilant as the sea surrounding it is home to the rare pink dolphin.
