Daħlet Qorrot Beach is a small, picturesque inlet located on the north-east coast of Gozo, an island in the Maltese archipelago. It's situated close to the town of Nadur, nestled between the northern cliffs of the island. The beach is characterized by its pebbly shore, clear deep water, and a unique quayside skirted by boat houses. These houses are converted caves at the base of the cliffs, each adorned with a brightly colored door, and are used by local fishermen for storage and boat housing.
The beach's crystal-clear waters and craggy coastline make it an ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling, though visitors are advised to be cautious of potential jellyfish and water currents. On a clear day, the view from the cliffs overlooking the bay extends as far as Sicily, located 60 miles away.
Daħlet Qorrot Beach offers a range of amenities for visitors. During the summer, a snack-bar facility is available, offering refreshments to beachgoers. Other amenities include public toilets, benches, boat launches, and a picnic table. However, it should be noted that the standard of the public toilets may not always be optimal, as they often lack toilet paper and soap, and may not flush properly.
Parking at Daħlet Qorrot Beach is not officially designated. Visitors typically park on the road or in front of the boathouses. Despite its tranquil and isolated nature, the beach can get quite busy. However, quieter spots can be found by walking away from the main beach towards the north, where there are tidal pools and an additional inlet. This area, featuring a secret beach and several picnic spots, can be reached by a short swim from Daħlet Qorrot or by walking back up the hill until an opening in the white wall is visible, leading down to the rocky beach.
The beach is easily accessible from Nadur. It is about a 30-minute walk or a 7-minute drive on Road 109 from the town. The walk back to Nadur is uphill and may take longer than 30 minutes, but it offers a scenic route through beautiful farmland. Visitors are advised to bring water and a snack for the journey, and a hat or sunbrella could be useful on sunny days.
