Cala Llobeta, also recognized as Cala Calafat, is a secluded beach nestled in the Calafat Urbanization, approximately 7 kilometers from the heart of l'Ametlla de Mar. Situated directly opposite the entrance to the Calafat port, the beach is known for its picturesque setting, surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush forests. The beach's clear waters contrast beautifully with the intense green of the nearby pine trees that stretch almost to the shoreline.
Covering an area of approximately 50 meters in length and 30 meters in width, Cala Llobeta is a small beach characterized by a mix of coarse sand and small stones. This beach lacks amenities, including a beach bar or lifeguard, contributing to its untouched, serene ambiance. However, there is a nearby restaurant with a pool where visitors can savor paellas and other regional dishes.
Cala Llobeta forms part of the GR 92, a scenic long-distance hiking trail, also known as the "Mediterranean Trail". This trail traverses the entire coastline, spanning a distance of 14 kilometers from l'Ametlla de Mar to l'Ampolla, offering breathtaking landscapes and charming coves, including Cala Llobeta.
The beach's clear waters make it a popular location for scuba divers. The rocky seabed, home to over 700 species of animals and plants, provides a rich marine life experience. The gentle slope of the sea's entrance makes Cala Llobeta an ideal spot for beginner divers.
Despite the wealth of 18 beautiful beaches and coves in l'Ametlla de Mar, Cala Llobeta is one of the least visited, maintaining its untouched charm. Access to the beach can be challenging due to its remote location, and public transportation options are limited. To reach Cala Llobeta, beachgoers must take the Calafat exit from the National Road 340 and follow the signs for the pool bar or Cala Llobeta, keeping close to the sea. Parking is available at the top of the hill, from where visitors must descend a few meters to reach the beach.
Although somewhat difficult to access, Cala Llobeta is frequented by a friendly crowd of beachgoers. However, dogs are not permitted on the beach. Cala Llobeta is a hidden gem in l'Ametlla de Mar, offering a tranquil and scenic setting for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts.
