Playa de los Genoveses

Playa de los Genoveses is a picturesque beach nestled in the municipality of Níjar, Almería, in the region of Andalusia, Spain. This beach, which is part of the Cabo de Gata natural park, is known for its striking views of mountains when observed from the water. It is an isolated beach and boasts a length of 1,180 meters and a width of about 50 meters. One of the defining characteristics of Playa de los Genoveses is its golden sand, which is both fine and soft, adding to the beach's overall appeal. The beach's entrance to the sea is shallow, extending for about 15 to 20 meters from the shore, leading into calm waters. Further enhancing its natural beauty is the lush vegetation that surrounds it, including a eucalyptus grove, agaves, and other plant species. Playa de los Genoveses can be quite busy during the high season, but it still retains a sense of tranquility, especially when visited early in the morning. Despite its popularity, arriving early is recommended due to the limited availability of parking spaces. The beach offers an unguarded parking lot that can accommodate more than 100 vehicles. A parking fee is charged during the high season. In terms of accessibility, the beach can be reached by public transport from Almería Capital, which operates thrice daily. The nearest road to the beach is AL-3108. For those who enjoy a scenic walk, there are paths from the old windmill in San José that lead to the beach, a journey that takes approximately 20 minutes. However, it is important to note that the beach does not have access for disabled individuals. For emergencies, the nearest hospital is the Hospital de Torrecárdenas in Almería.
