Playa de Los Lagos is a picturesque beach complex situated on the outskirts of El Cotillo, in Fuerteventura. This serene natural area comprises a series of individual beaches that stretch to the edge of Playa de la Concha. The beaches are well protected and known for their tranquil ambiance, making them an ideal destination for families or groups looking for a peaceful retreat.
Characterized by its fine white sand, Playa de Los Lagos offers a safe swimming environment due to a barrier reef that prevents large waves from reaching the shore. This feature, coupled with the rich marine life in the area, makes the beach complex a popular spot for snorkeling. Visitors can also enjoy surfing, thanks to the sizable waves that can be found further out.
Although the beaches can be busier in the summer months, it never becomes overly crowded, maintaining its peaceful atmosphere. While there are no direct services on the beaches themselves, visitors can find bars and restaurants in the nearby vicinity for food and refreshments.
Playa de Los Lagos spans approximately 190 meters in length and 40 meters in width, and features unique rock pools and small bays that add to the beach's charm. One of the standout experiences at the beach is the stunning sunsets, especially on windy days when the waves are larger.
Getting to Playa de Los Lagos involves taking the road towards the lighthouse. After passing Hotel Cotillo Beach, visitors can turn onto one of the left-hand streets leading to the sea. Parking is conveniently available approximately 50 meters from the beach.
Despite its proximity to more urban surroundings, Playa de Los Lagos maintains its natural allure, offering a serene setting for relaxation, exploration, and observing the abundant marine life. However, it is worth noting that nudism is not permitted on these beaches. After a day at the beach, visitors can explore the nearby small fishing town located approximately 1km away, perfect for a coffee stop.
