Apart from its natural allure, Cala Macarella is also a popular nudist beach. Despite its isolated location and the occasional presence of algae and plant growth on its seabed, the beach attracts a large number of visitors, particularly non-swimmers, who can enjoy the shallow waters and a long distance of foot-in-sand experience. The beach is also sheltered from winds coming from the north, northeast, east, west, and northwest directions, providing an ideal setting for a day out with family and friends.

The beach can be accessed either on foot or by car via the nearest road, Carretera de Sant Joan de Misas. However, it's important to note that there is no access for individuals with disabilities. An unguarded parking lot with more than 100 spaces is available for those arriving by car. The nearest port, the Port of Cala'n Bosch, is approximately 5.6 miles away. Alternatively, visitors can park at Cala Galdana, from where it's a scenic but steep 30-minute walk to the beach. This could present a challenge for those with limited mobility, such as children or the elderly.
Despite its remote location and the effort required to reach it, Cala Macarella tends to be busy, especially during the high season and on weekdays in the early part of October. To secure a parking spot and enjoy the beach before it gets crowded, visitors are recommended to arrive early. In case of emergencies, the nearest hospital, Hospital Mateu Orfila, is located in Mahón.
