Middles Beach

Middles Beach is a serene and picturesque destination nestled on the north-west coast of Puerto Rico. Known as one of the premier surfing spots on the island, it is recognized for its powerful waves, drawing both locals and tourists alike.

The beach is divided into two sections, Jobos and Pozo, each with distinct characteristics. Jobos, the more populated area, provides various amenities for visitors, including food and drink services and chair and umbrella rentals. On the other hand, Pozo, less commercialized and often less crowded, offers a tranquil retreat. It features a unique natural pool, or 'pozo,' filled with ocean water, making it suitable for everyone, including young children. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution due to the presence of sea urchins in the area.

Middles Beach is celebrated for its natural charm, underscored by its soft sand dunes that can reach heights of 30-50 feet. Adding to the beach's allure is the non-commercialized area surrounding it, where nearby landowners often graze cows. The beach is also recognized for its hidden treasures, offering an element of exploration for visitors.

Despite its rocky terrain and powerful waves, which may not be suitable for casual swimming or those who are not strong swimmers, Middles Beach still attracts a plethora of visitors. Its tranquility, combined with the thrill of surfing real waves, makes it an unmissable spot in Puerto Rico. The beach also hosts the annual Corona Pro Surf Competition, a premier event on the island's surfing calendar.

Visitors should note that while Middles Beach offers plenty of space for setting up a tent, swimming is not recommended due to the powerful waves. However, for those who prefer to bask in the sun while watching locals catch waves, Middles Beach provides an ideal setting.
