Monte Velho Beach

Monte Velho Beach is a beautiful and serene location, often described as not being overly crowded. It is known for its natural characteristics such as clear white sand and crashing waves. The beach also features lovely rock pools, which have been formed by water pounding over them for years. However, these pools don't offer much to see in terms of marine life. The beach is easily accessible via a tarmac road that leads all the way down to it. From the free parking area, it's a short 3-minute walk to the beach along the last 100 meters of the road. However, visitors are advised to check the weather forecast before heading to the beach as it can sometimes be foggy at the beach itself while it’s perfectly sunny on the way down. The beach is equipped with lifeguards, ensuring the safety of those who choose to swim. However, due to the fairly big waves, it may not be suitable for swimming with children. Visitors are advised to bring their own food and drinks as there is no snack bar available on the beach. There is a pub/cafe nearby where visitors can get coffee and other refreshments. The beach is particularly beautiful near sunset, with the sun setting over the sea. Despite the beach's wilderness-like atmosphere, the water is reportedly less cold than the beaches in Lisbon. Monte Velho Beach is an ideal location for those who enjoy beach walks and the powerful beauty of nature.
