Porto Timoni Beach is a unique and secluded location on the northwestern coast of the island of Corfu, near the traditional village of Afionas. It is composed of two distinct, equally stunning beaches separated by a strip of land, giving it the appearance of a tombolo. The beaches are covered in pebbles and shingles, and are surrounded by lush greenery.
The waters at Porto Timoni are noted for their clarity and beautiful shades of turquoise and teal, providing an ideal setting for snorkeling. A sea cave nearby adds to the allure of this beach. However, the beaches are unorganized and lack facilities, due to their remote location. Despite this, the beaches are prized for their tranquility and the stunning views they offer, especially of the sunset in the afternoon.
There are two paths for visitors to reach Porto Timoni Beach, both of which start from Afionas village. One path begins at the top of the village, while the other starts from the center. The journey is about 1 kilometer in distance and can be quite steep, requiring approximately 30 minutes to traverse. It is recommended that visitors wear suitable hiking shoes for this journey. An alternative mode of transportation is by boat taxi from Agios Georgios. Along the way to the beach, visitors have the opportunity to view the ruins of a medieval fortress.
In the vicinity of Porto Timoni's main beaches is a smaller, tranquil beach that offers a less crowded experience. Despite its peacefulness, cleanliness might not be up to par. This beach is also accessible on foot, with the recommendation of wearing appropriate hiking shoes for the journey. The beach does not offer any amenities or parking facilities.
