Beach Olhos de Água

Beach Olhos de Água is a picturesque beach situated in the town of Albufeira, Portugal. The beach is named after the freshwater springs that emerge from the sand during low tide at the eastern end of the beach. These springs can be clearly seen bubbling up through the sand, providing a unique and refreshing sight. The beach is surrounded by ochre cliffs and is known for its diverse natural features including limestone cliffs, rugged rock formations, and golden sand. These rock formations create a variety of intriguing features such as reefs, pools, arches, coves, and small sheltered bays, particularly in the beach's western section. The intertidal zone is home to a variety of marine life including limpets, barnacles, sea anemones, and colourful algae. Despite the growth of the surrounding village, Beach Olhos de Água has preserved its serene environment, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of neighbouring towns. It is not typically crowded, especially on weekdays, providing a tranquil atmosphere for visitors. The beach is well-equipped with amenities including sunshade rentals, showers, and outdoor parking. For dining options, there are several sea-facing restaurants in the vicinity, in addition to a bar. Public toilets are available, albeit located at the restaurant at the end of the beach and require a code to access. The beach also features a small boulevard area and a scenic lookout spot at one end. Access to Beach Olhos de Água is made easy by a paved road that passes through the village of Olhos de Água and is marked in Albufeira and on the EN 125 road. The beach can be reached via a ramp and stairs. Visitors can also take various forms of transportation to reach the beach, including Uber. The surrounding area also offers well-maintained paths for hiking.
