Playa de Oro is a picturesque beach located in the North Hotel Zone of Puerto Vallarta, positioned between the marina and the mouth of the Pitillal River. It is also in the vicinity of the Maritimal Port, being approximately five minutes away. The beach is popular for its proximity to shopping centers, restaurants, and convenience stores, providing easy access to various amenities. The beach is known for its soft, clear sand that stretches over a kilometer, and it boasts moderate waves, making it a safe and enjoyable spot for swimming and sunbathing. It has been awarded the international Blue Flag certification, demonstrating its high standards in safety, environmental management, and quality. Despite the beach's popularity, it is not overly crowded, offering a relaxing experience for families and individuals seeking a less populated beach setting. However, visitors are advised to be aware of the beach's flag system, which indicates the safety of the water. Red flags represent dangerous conditions, while black flags advise against entering the water. Playa de Oro is an ideal location for various water activities such as jet skiing, kayaking, parasailing, and banana boat rides. The beach is also suitable for land-based activities like volleyball, frisbee, horseback riding, or simply taking a leisurely walk with your pet, especially at sunset. The name 'Playa de Oro' is believed to have been derived from the Playa de Oro hotel, one of the first hotels built in the area in the second half of the last century.
