Praia Da Ostreira, also known as Playa Ostreira, is a semi-urban beach located in the municipal recreational area of A Reiboa in Poio, Pontevedra. This small beach, measuring 60 meters in length with a varying width, is characterized by its white sandy composition and the surrounding vegetation.
Despite its unconditioned and somewhat wild nature, Praia Da Ostreira is known for its long shoreline making it an ideal location for leisurely walks. It is particularly popular among dog owners, children, and the elderly who enjoy the easy and fun walking paths. The beach is unique for the smell that emanates from the waters near the shore, believed to be due to the absence of a water treatment plant in the vicinity.
The beach is not typically crowded as it is not a tourist beach, maintaining a low level of occupancy. At high tide, the beach can be quite narrow, but it stretches out considerably at low tide. The ria's seabed experiences significant low tides, and at such times, the beach extends to a great length until the water.
Praia Da Ostreira does not offer a wide range of amenities. There are no kiosks or food and drink services, no public telephones, trash bins, umbrellas, hammocks, nautical activities, yacht club, scuba diving, or a marina. The beach does not have lifeguard surveillance, danger signs, or a Red Cross, police, or rescue service. It is not adapted for people with disabilities and does not allow nudism or naturism.
Access to the beach is easy by foot, although there is no signage to guide visitors. There is an interurban bus service available for transportation. However, the beach does not provide parking facilities or a tourist office. In case of emergencies, the contact number is 112. The nearest hospital, Hospital de Montecelo, is located 7 km away in Plaza de Montecelo, Pontevedra.
