Plage de Penvins

Plage de Penvins, located in the town of Sarzeau, is a sandy beach known for its lively atmosphere and an array of water sports. The beach is especially popular among kite-surfing enthusiasts and families, due to its clean and shallow waters, making it safe for children. The beach is divided into two distinct sections by a point, on one side of which lies a calm pool devoid of waves and noise, while a few meters further on the other side, the sea with the waves can be found. The beach is surrounded by picturesque dunes and rocks, adding to its natural beauty. A small chapel further enhances the overall decor of the place. The beach is also known for the quality of its bathing water, which was classified as "Excellent" in 2015. Plage de Penvins offers a variety of amenities for its visitors. It is equipped with a lifeguard station and offers sailing, kite-surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding lessons. There is a playground for children behind the beach, and a special wheelchair called a "fauteuil hippocampe" is available for disabled visitors, which can be reserved at the lifeguard station. The beach is easily accessible, with a nearby parking area for visitors. It can be reached from the center of Sarzeau by taking the D198 road towards Vannes and following the signs indicating La Grée de Penvins and La Plage. Despite its popularity, the beach maintains a peaceful atmosphere and is only 700 meters away from a nearby camping site, making it an ideal location for a day out. The weather at Plage de Penvins is typically characterized by cloudy skies with a chance of light rain in the afternoon and evening, and clear periods at night. The sea at the beach is described as "peu agitée" or slightly agitated. Despite the possibility of rain, the beach is generally considered safe as it is supervised for safety.
