Platja de l'Art, also known as Plage de l'Art - Plage Nord, is a picturesque beach located in the resort town of Saint-Cyprien, within the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Pyrénées-Orientales, France. The beach is named after the Catalan word for fishing net, a nod to the traditional fishing method used there until the 1950s. The beach is well-known for its expansive width, with some sections reaching up to 130 meters, making it the widest beach in Saint-Cyprien. The shores are composed of medium-grade sand that gently slopes into the sea, making it a popular spot for families with children. The beach's natural environment becomes increasingly wild as one moves further north. Platja de l'Art is well-equipped with amenities for visitors. A promenade along the sea offers a pleasant stroll, and various shops, bars, and restaurants are situated nearby, providing a range of options for refreshments. The beach also features facilities for water sports, adding to its recreational appeal. The beach is supervised during the summer season, and accessibility has been enhanced for people with reduced mobility. The beach is conveniently accessible via the D81A road. Two parking areas are available for visitors who opt to drive, including a sizable car park located at one end of the beach. A cycle route also backs the beach, further enhancing its accessibility. Despite the beach's popularity, its vastness allows for a sense of spaciousness, even during peak times. However, visitors should note that dogs have been prohibited on the beach since August 2016, although enforcement of this rule has been reported to be inconsistent.
