Plage Pont-Tournant

Plage Pont-Tournant is a serene, white sandy beach located in the town of Saint-Cyprien, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, France. It is nestled on the right bank of the port, between the Capellans and Port neighborhoods. The beach is renowned for its preserved environment, attributed to its close proximity to the port and marinas, offering a picturesque view of the port's dike. This has resulted in a relatively undeveloped and uncrowded beach, providing a peaceful environment for its visitors.

Despite its pristine and natural surroundings, Plage Pont-Tournant is well-equipped with amenities. It boasts shower and toilet facilities, including those specifically designed for disabled individuals. The beach has been recognized as a Handiplage, indicating its accessibility for disabled individuals. This is further facilitated through the provision of a tiralo, a floating wheelchair, and a carpet that allows wheelchair access right up to the water's edge.

During the summer months, the beach is supervised, ensuring a safe swimming environment. However, it's important to note that the beach has a strong slope. As for cleanliness, the beach maintains a moderate level, making it a suitable spot for swimmers. Since August 2016, dogs have been prohibited from the beach.

In terms of accessibility, Plage Pont-Tournant is accessible by crossing a bridge with alternating traffic. It has a large parking area for visitors. However, due to occasional parking issues, visitors are sometimes advised to park their cars in the town and walk to the beach.

Nearby, there is a Sea Sports Center and a private beach, adding to the variety of recreational options available to visitors. Despite its closeness to the bustling port and marina, Plage Pont-Tournant offers a tranquil retreat for those seeking a less crowded beach experience in Saint-Cyprien.
