Plaža Ponta is a public beach located in the city of Tivat, Montenegro. It is recognized for its natural beauty, featuring clear sea waters, and captivating views of the surrounding mountains. The beach is not sandy, instead, it is rocky with sharp stones. Despite the rocky nature of the beach, the waters remain calm, making it an inviting spot for swimming.
Despite its popularity, Plaža Ponta does not offer typical beach amenities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, or music. Instead, it provides a natural and serene environment for visitors. This simplicity contributes to the overall charm and appeal of the beach.
During the summer season, the beach can become crowded. However, there are periods when it is less populated. Access to the beach can be challenging without the use of a boat or car.
The local government of Tivat has issued urban planning and technical conditions for the improvement of Plaža Ponta. This was done in 2011 based on the existing urban plan. The local government continues to emphasize the importance of Plaža Ponta as a public space. It is the only natural city beach in the area and is known for its numerous pontoons that enhance the coastal atmosphere. The local government is committed to maintaining the public use of the beach and works towards the enhancement of the coastal area.
