That said, during the summer months, the city offers some beach-like spots and outdoor swimming areas to help beat the heat:
Žluté Lázně: This recreational sports and leisure complex located on the banks of the Vltava River features a small beach, a swimming area, beach volleyball courts, and other sports facilities. There are also restaurants and bars on-site.
Hostivař Reservoir: The Hostivař Reservoir, located on the outskirts of Prague, is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. It's a man-made lake with a sandy beach, grassy areas, and facilities like paddleboat rentals, beach volleyball courts, and restaurants.
For those willing to travel a bit farther from Prague, there are several lakes and reservoirs outside the city that offer swimming and sunbathing opportunities:
Máchovo Jezero: About an hour's drive north of Prague, this lake is a popular summer destination for Czechs. There are several beaches around the lake, as well as camping facilities, restaurants, and water sports rentals.
Slapy Water Reservoir: Located on the Vltava River about an hour south of Prague, Slapy is one of the largest reservoirs in the Czech Republic. There are several beaches along the shore, as well as boat rentals and other recreational opportunities.
