Prolimnos Beach, also known as Dog's Beach, is a small yet beautiful beach located in Cyprus. It is easily accessible, especially since the reopening of the nearby road. Visitors can park their vehicles at a designated spot marked on Google Maps and walk down to the beach. Alternatively, vehicles with a bit of extra height can drive all the way to the beach, especially during the summer months.
The beach is part of the Genesis Aphrodite's Trail, adding to its charm. However, it is not the most suitable place for swimming due to the presence of currents and numerous rocks in the water. Despite this, it is a nice spot for a quick dip in the shallows, particularly for those with dogs. Visitors should be aware that there is no shade on the beach, so it's advisable to bring your own.
One of the highlights of Prolimnos Beach is its stunning rock formations. There is a gap in the rocks on the left side of the beach that visitors can walk through. This path is lined with a shallow layer of pebbles running along the bottom of the cliffs, making for a unique walking experience, although it may be challenging for dogs that are not comfortable in the water.
The beach tends to be quiet, often with very few people or even none at all, depending on the time of visit. However, it is important to note that there are no amenities, including rubbish bins, so visitors are encouraged to take their waste with them when they leave. Despite its wild nature, Prolimnos Beach is a peaceful and beautiful spot, particularly at sundown.
The beach is not recommended for swimming dogs due to the strong currents and waves. There is also a risk of encountering snakes in the surrounding vegetation behind the beach. Despite these challenges, the beach offers a phenomenal view and is a great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset with your dog.
