Punggol Beach, situated on the North coast of Singapore, offers a unique glimpse into local history. Once an area filled with numerous pig farms, the last of which was closed in 1990, the beach is now known for its beautiful scenery and recreational activities. The name Punggol has an interesting Malay origin, translating to "hurling sticks at branches of fruit trees to bring them down to the ground". This references the area's past as a hub for fruit gathering.
